I swear, you are the only person I know in real life or online who also reads these books. Even my friend that likes the Anne Rice Sleeping Beauty books can't get into these.

It's called Namaah's Kiss, I think you can get it already at Amazon. I'll buy it on the 24th at Borders, because I don't like to buy things online. It's the beginning of a new series, set in the future from where the last Kushiel book left off.

It wasn't at Barnes and Noble over the weekend, because I was there and bought a christian book (Jesus Wants To Save Christians by Rob Bell), because I couldn't find any good fiction.

Oh, this is an acquired vice, all right. And a rare and tasty one. It's still set in the same world, right?

Kind of. The books are set in an fantasy world where there is no intrusion from technology above what you would have seen around 1800 or so. The main character is a woman who was sold into bondage to a sexual guild (one of many) and she buys her freedom but also becomes a political spy.

The sexual passages are oblique and restrained and so pack quite a bit more punch than these things usually do. But the point of books isn't really the few sexual plot devices, it's more about the politics and personalities in this imaginary world including semi-supernatural entities. It's very well written.

    And addictive.

I have all the Repairman Jack books! Sometimes a girl just wants a little semi-sadomasochistic romance action with maybe some cool dialog thrown in. :p

Nay you repeatedly punch him in the throat as he slowly drags you away.

What are these Repairman Jack books you speak of? I had heard of the Gor books, but read part of one and was repulsed.
