What the bloody hell have those zany Brits gotten themselves into? I think the population of Britain must be getting tired of this sort of nonsense by now. Our politicians are dumb, but the guys in parliament who thought up this National Children's Bureau and gave them the authority to hand down guidance are just flat out retarded. I don't mean retarded in the colloquial sense. I mean I.Q. lower than 70 retarded, as in too incompetent to stand trial retarded. Seriously British politics these days make even Kucinich look like a rational intellectual.

There is a certain type of mindset that puts a high degree of value on food preferences. It's a moral purity test of sorts. People who will only eat organic produce or who will never eat a white bread sandwich (unless it's a white "artisan" bread) are in this group. It's basically a litmus test for class or cultural issues.
It's quite a bit more important for a child to try new skills and practice them than it is for a child to try new foods and eat them all the time. Acquiring a taste for new foods is significantly less difficult than learning the relationship between fractions and whole numbers. Schools should stick to the few things they can do well.
