There are chemical, biological and even nuclear artillery shells. Saddam had chemical shells (we found several hundred with sarin loaded, not to mention the thousands more that he expended in Iran and against the Kurds). These can be launched by self-propelled conventional artillery, which Saddam had plenty of. Saddam's air force included fighters with missile capabilities, which meant that he could strike out to the range of his MIGs and SUs. Saddam also had a missile program, although most of his stock was purchased from the USSR and China. His nuclear program included multiple research sites and he was in possession of several hundred tons of uranium.

At Coretta Scott King's funeral in early 2006, Ethel Kennedy, the widow of Robert Kennedy, leaned over to him and whispered, "The torch is being passed to you." "A chill went up my spine," Obama told an aide. (Newsweek)

That peace loving pacifist? Of course not.
BTW Odysseus, in no way am I saying that Iran does not pose a threat to us and our allies and interests. But do you recall when North Korea announced that it could hit Japan with a missile? The MSM played it up as a huge improvement in missile technology. They are doing the same thing here.
Iran is a threat in their very specific region, and we have huge interests there. But the MSM is playing it as if they are a threat to us militarily. They can't hope to compete with our precision and long range technology. Very few countries can, and those are more susceptable to economic warfare than traditional.

You know, we hit a satellites in orbit from a cruiser with a missile, and satellites don't move very slow. I think the next time Iran decides to test missiles, we should test our missile defense systems at the same time. It's awfully convenient when you have someone willing to launch clay pigeons for you.

Think you missed the point, Major: Of what threat were all of these nasty things to the United States of America?

Iran test fires 'world's fastest' underwater missile ( April 2006)
"Remember This one a Two Hundred plus MPH Underwater Missile/Torpedo !"
Iran last Friday test fired what it claims is the world's fastest underwater missile - reported to have a top speed of 360km/h (233mph), according to the BBC. Special Republican guard troops fired the weapon - dubbed "Hoot" or Whale - and successfully destroyed a derelict ship in the Gulf as part of Iran's "Holy Prophet" war games. Iranian TV interrupted normal broadcasts to show footage of the test. This latest bit of sabre-rattling, certain to irritate the US whose 5th Fleet operates in the area, comes hot on the heels of a test last week of a multi-warhead conventional...

This was completely expected in the wake of Israel's war games excercise, now we'll see who has balls.
