A Good Day to say "Goodbye".

Today, with the passing of the FISA bill, will also serve as the anniversary of the last night that I sleep in my own home, shop in my small hometown, and watch our all-American programming. As is stands, our car is packed and our hopes are high, for tomorrow we depart on the last, and most important, leg of a 5 year journey of emigration. Tomorrow, we seek out a promise of upward mobility in a statistical meritocracy, which also means, we are pursuing the “American Dream”. Like those that came before us to found this country, we are only taking what we can carry with us, and our hopes and dreams—with luck, this will be enough.
Long drawn out post, but its threads like this that make me squeal like a little girl. I like it when they go off the deep end like this. :D

69. you may disagree with people
But why on earth would you mock and ridicule them?
Maybe that is the greatest damage the right wingers have done to us - made us into mean-spirited bullies like they are and coarsened us and hardened our hearts to each other. Very sad.
Leftists rule--never take responsibility for anything, not even your emotions or actions, and always claim you're a victim.
And then there's this:

59. So you would blame a Jew for leaving Nazi Germany?
I would be out of this police state in a heartbeat if I could.

So long. I doubt I'll be missed.
Well, it was a short run for me.
As I mentioned when I signed up about a month ago, I am supporting Obama this November, but I'm not a Democrat. I'm a registered Independant, with a liberal lean and I'm very excited about Obama (hopefully) becoming the 44th President of the United States.
I really just wanted a good place to talk about support of Obama, with intelligent people that also wanted to support Obama's bid for the presidency. I hadn't been to Democratic underground before, but after I read the stickied post "Welcome to the General Election. So, what does this mean for Democratic Underground?", I believed this would be a good place to come.
But, to put it bluntly, this place pretty much sucks giant horse cocks in regards of supporting Barack Obama and my limited time here has been spent more defending him against attacks from Liberals than it has been engaged in any kind of quality discourse.
So, as quickly as I came, I'm gone.
For those here that also want to see Obama the 44th President, I hope we'll be successfull and if so I'll come back in November for a celebritory post.
Enjoy your summer, everyone, and good-bye.Redstone (1000+ posts) Thu Jul-10-08 02:11 PM

18. There's a big difference in scale of vulgarity right there. In case you didn't notice.
Besides which, DU is a "big tent" kind of place, remember? This is bigger than presidential politics. This is a battle for America.
