"Under Obamacare Kennedy Would be a bad dream long ago !"
One of the key elements in helping Americans understand the danger of Obamacare to them and their families is personalize the risk it will pose to everyone individually, not just to society as a whole.
Democrats don’t want you to do that. They want the Great Unwashed to simply stare into the sunny skies of Hope and Change and believe that somehow the Anointed One will be there wipe their fevered brow, cast away their pain, and magically (unemployment and CBO figures notwithstanding,) make the world an Obamatopia. They want us all to believe that somehow, under the Anointed One’s plan, the lame will walk, the blind shall see, and the dead shall rise from their graves, if we all just click our heels strongly enough and proclaim “I Believe!”
But what effect would Obamacare have on Democrat families? All we have to do to know the answer to that uncomfortable question is to look at America’s most prominent Democrat, the sainted Kennedys.
The answer is very simple; Ted Kennedy would be dead. He would have been dead months ago. He would have already been left alone, without disease-focused medical care, to die a painful death.
Ever since he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, there has been no doubt as to Kennedy’s eventual outcome. But, under our current medical system, everything possible has been done to try to save the Senators life. He was kept alive, through a number of crises, to continue his life on Earth. Under Obamacare, he would have been pushed aside, left to die, with little if any concern for his or his family’s wishes.
Why? It’s very simple. Kennedy is 77. Under national medical program such as Obama advocates, there are strict rules requiring cutting off medical care once certain ages are met. Your position in life has no effect on the outcome. Mother Theresa would have been dead long before she made her most valuable contributions to society.
In most cases under a national healthcare system, at age 65, your birthday presents include golf shirts, a few loud ties you would never wear, and the knowledge that as far as advanced medical care is concerned, fagetaboutit!
Not only that, but Kennedy is a poor risk patient regardless of his age. His decades of heavy drinking, his smoking, his previous rehabilitation from back injuries, all combine to make him a highly desirable candidate for the “shuffle off and die” portion of Obamacare.
I am not disabusing Hospice here. Hospice care is wonderful for those who want it. Fighting to the end is what others want. They see it in the same light as their opposition to abortion. They believe God gave us this one body and we should keep it alive, as his gift, as long as possible. As good as it is, the decision to use Hospice care, or to not use it, should be left up to the patient and their family, not some Washington bureaucrat.
Obamacare wants to kill that choice, just as it wants to kill off its old, “expensive” patients.
