Those are all very good, but I don't think I can make a case that these construction projects are what turned the economy around. Most haven't started yet, and the ones that did, the money hasn't had a chance to filter down. The Illinois site says the projects were submitted by city mayors in 2008, wasn't that before Obama took office?
I'm sure it was something Obama did, just have to put our fingers on it.

Very little of the stimulus money (less than 10%) went to shovel ready road projects, Most of the money went for extended unemployment benefits, medicaid and a whole host of wasteful Democratic wish list that have been flushed down a rat hole like Acorn, production of a porno horror flick, the study of the sex life of a rat in San Fran and other stupid shit. The 787 billion dollar stimulus plan was not about creating jobs and any one that thinks so is a fool.

They're all very terrible. The state projects illustrate a very good point. One that socialists miss.

It's the old principle of having someone dig a ditch so that you can hire someone else to fill it back in.

A bridge is built. If it is built to meet an insistent public demand, if it solves a traffic problem or a transportation problem otherwise insoluble, if, in short, it is even more necessary to the taxpayers collectively than the things for which they would have individually spent their money had it had not been taxed away from them, there can be no objection. But a bridge built primarily “to provide employment” is a different kind of bridge. When providing employment becomes the end, need becomes a subordinate consideration.“Projects” have to be invented. Instead of thinking only of where bridges must be built the government spenders begin to ask themselves where bridges can be built. Can they think of plausible reasons why an additional bridge should connect Easton and Weston? It soon becomes absolutely essential. Those who doubt the necessity are dismissed as obstructionists and reactionaries. - Henry Hazlitt
If the bridge costs $10 million the taxpayers will lose $10 million. They will have that much taken away from them which they would otherwise have spent on the things they needed most
