Pentagon spy jailed for conspiracy

Washington - A federal court in Virginia has sentenced a former Pentagon employee to almost five years in prison for passing military secrets to an agent working for China. In his trial which ended in March, Gregg William Bergersen, 51, admitted to one count of conspiracy to disclose national defense information to persons not entitled to receive it. He faced up to 10 years in prison.

Bergersen worked as a weapons systems policy analyst at the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which implements the Pentagon's foreign military sales program.

Unbeknownst to Bergersen, Mr Kuo was passing the information to an unnamed Chinese Government official.

Why do they hire these Chinese for sensative positions.Most of the are working for the Chinese Spy Bureau and send everything they learn home to China !

Unless Kuo was charged with treason and generally only during wartime is there an applicable death penalty so I don't thing that AFP statement is correct.

Too bad though because with the number of Chinese spying in the country we need a few executions as a deterrence. People don't realize how many US deaths their transfers of information end up being responsible for.
