I just got called a Socialist!
By my Father no less.
Some background: I had spent quite a bit of time educating he, my sister and BIL last November on voting for Obama. They did, all three of them, my Mother voted for McCain/Quitter.
At dinner tonight, he says that he regrets voting for Obama and wish he could have his vote back. Well, I began to nicely debate/argue with him over Health Insurance reform. He would not listen for more than a few seconds before he blew up. Ranting about President Obama being a socialist and he did'nt vote for this type of change etc...he literally called me a socialist for supporting the President now.
I took him to his computer to log in to Whitehosue.gov to show him the President's remarks concerning healthcare and also the disinformation...he watched for 5 seconds and lashed out at me that it was lies all lies! I asked where he was getting his info from, he said he can read and has eyes to watch television. He said I was brainwashed and this is like the book 1984 blah, blah. My Mom did not say a word until I was taking coffee cup back, and she said "I told you so". WTF? 6 months into his Presidency and you told me so? You knew this was gonna happen?
As I was leaving..he said for me tell my comrades hello from a dissenter.
I am heartbroken, to say the least. I teared up in the car...I am glad my girlfriend was not with me, she would have cursed a blue streak against my own Father.
I am at a loss. Just had to vent a little...I hope the economy turns around, if it does'nt my father may never forgive me.
