Two People Die, Three in Critical Condition after I-64 Crash

KSDK -- Charges have not been filed against the driver of a tractor-trailer who was involved in a multi-vehicle crash that left two people dead and injured 16 others.
The tractor-trailer was heading eastbound on Highway 40 near Mason Rd. when it crashed into several cars that were waiting to get on to I-270, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
"It was backed up like it always is at this time. And, the driver just ran over the cars," Sgt. Al Nothum said. Nothum said the investigation into what caused the crash was ongoing, but inattention by the tractor-trailer driver played a big part.
<LI itxtvisited="1">Charles "Keith" Cason, 55, of Caseyville, Illinois and Lydia Miller, 55, of Canton, Missouri died in the pile-up, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

When I came in to work, I had a shock. I had seen in this morning's paper headlines about this crash. But I didn't read the fine print. The devil is always in the details.
Keith Cason worked with my company several times. He was a wonderful man, a good businessman, honest in his dealings with his clients, and the best of family men. He had a lovely wife and kids. They had attended several "Presidents Club" Sales Award trips with me.
He was someone that I always admired. He was a good Christian man without shoving his religion down your throat. He was an inspiration to me, that sales people can be good folk. Sometimes I get very disillusioned. He was active in is Lutheran Church and both sons served in the military, as had he.
May the angels guide you to heaven, my friend. You're certainly remembered here in our office today.
