White House appears ready to drop 'public option'
By PHILIP ELLIOTT, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON Bowing to Republican pressure, President Barack Obama's administration signaled on Sunday it is ready to abandon the idea of giving Americans the option of government-run insurance as part of a new health care system.
Facing mounting opposition to the overhaul, administration officials left open the chance for a compromise with Republicans that would include health insurance cooperatives instead of a government-run plan. Such a concession probably would enrage Obama's liberal supporters but could deliver a much-needed victory on a top domestic priority opposed by GOP lawmakers.
Officials from both political parties reached across the aisle in an effort to find compromises on proposals they left behind when they returned to their districts for an August recess. Obama had sought the government to run a health insurance organization to help cover the nation's almost 50 million uninsured, but he never made it a deal breaker in a broad set of ideas that has Republicans unified in opposition.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that government alternative to private health insurance is "not the essential element" of the administration's health care overhaul. The White House would be open to co-ops, she said, a sign that Democrats want a compromise so they can declare a victory.

What most conservatives realize is that this piece of shit bill is just the first step if he dont get all that he wants he will just wait a bit and change a little more down the road.

Americans let their voices be heard at TH meetings and Tea Parties across this nation, and we got at least part of victory ( for now).
What the Moonbats never saw ( maybe didn't want to see) is all Obama is concerned with is keeping the big chair, and he'll do whatever it takes to stay there; that's his whole agenda.
But what the Moonbats have also failed to do was stand back and look at the power ordinary Americans created and wielded when they see a cause worth fighting for. No, instead they do what they always do make fun of the Joes, pretend it wasn't happening, say the whole thing was fake, and in the end they blame big business instead of their own short comings ( basing everything on emotion , their prime mover).
Yes, my dear Moonbats, you lose because you forsake reason and instead embraced your fantasies because it was easier to do and it made you feel good; and that is why you will keep losing.
This is the first small battle my friends, and the Moonbats are going hurt as many people as they can here on out because it easier to do that then look in the mirror and except, and correct their own flaws.
Things ain't over by a long shot and it going to get a lot messy-er, meaner and most dangerous in the coming days, weeks, months and years ahead.
Moonbats are licking their wound right now, but soon they'll back with a new plan for the Nanny State, and we'll have to fight them once again.
