Gregory MacDonald has a book out called The Evangelical Universalist which goes into this with a depth and articulation I could not really do it justice off the top of my head. It does not deny the existence of hell nor the basic tenet of salvation by Christ, mind you, it deals solely with the purpose and length of punishment. As I recall it has a tremendous examination of Revelation as well as Israel's journey and its relation to the salvation of humanity at large. If you're interested, that's the best text I've seen on it.
