And they call us racists? Bwahahahaha

We have met the only African American man in America that did not vote for Obama
Ladies and gentlemen, it's true. I have met the only African-American man who claims to not have voted for Obama. He doesn't trust Democrats. They are "liars" and "unqualified". Yup. Let me tell you about the half hour from Hell this afternoon.

Our young friend (let's call her Alexis; it's not her real name, but her real name's distinctive enough to be noticeable,) is off to college. A far-right-wing college. I'm not naming that, either, but I will give a little backstory. I realize we're biased because we love her, but this young woman is exceptional. Besides maintaining an A average through school and Running Start (she actually started community college two years ago and finished in June,) she's done extensive international volunteer work, among other things. She is outstanding -- articulate, funny, intelligent, beautiful, everything you'd want your daughter to be. Oh, yeah -- she's spent the past ten years being brainwashed by her RW stepfather and his family. Yay. We knew our little sweetie and her mom before Dad came along. Our young friend was accepted by some significant universities; she's going to a school that doesn't accept federal funding because they can then discriminate re: awarding scholarships and "student aid".

Today was her going-away party. We went for her. It's increasingly difficult; every time we're in this family's home, we're either excluded or outright confronted via one of their other guests about our political beliefs. After all, we are the token Democrats. We walked into the backyard where most of the guests were. It wasn't even five minutes until we heard our young friend's mother and some of the other guests having a loud discussion with a guy who couldn't wait to tell the party at large that he doesn't vote for Democrats, he won't ever vote for one, he does not have any Democratic friends, etcetera. Obviously, when one is a guest in someone else's home, it's rude to start World War III, but here's the thing.

This family has been to our house before for a social gathering. We do not talk about politics at any social gathering in our home unless we KNOW that everyone there is of a fairly similar opinion. It's rude. It is astonishing to me that anyone would think it appropriate to act like this, even more so when you don't know everyone attending. I resisted the impulse to walk over to the guy who'd just told the entire party he didn't vote for Barack Obama, stick out my hand, and say, "I don't believe I introduced myself. My name is ______________, and I voted for Barack Obama."

Again: We see this stuff here daily, but I have to agree with the person that posted last week about his belief that there will be violence before this is over. This goes beyond simple good manners or any kind of tact. The country is split. They haven't figured out yet that our numbers are exponentially larger than theirs, but when they do, all bets are off.

In the meantime, we've attended our last social gathering at that household

Uh, really... you think you lib elitists outnumber the rest of us... holy shit, talk about arrogance...?

    2. Funny how it never works the other way, isn't it?
It's the same with my family. I purposely NEVER bring up politics, and I carefully invite only certain people over who I know can be circumspect in their conversation topics. But when I visit THEM, I can't go five minutes without being accosted for some Democrat's foible (last time it was Jefferson and the cash in the freezer).

It's terribly rude, but they just don't seem to get it at all.
    LMAO... poor baby..

    8. I worked with one!!
I worked with many others, but there was one who didn't like him and had Conservative views. I was shocked, and so was everyone else when I told them.
Uh-oh... a black guy with independent thought processes... will the libtards explode!!!!

    18. This thread is racist. And yes I'm serious.
I'm sick of these posts from people on DU who are shocked and awed that black people don't share a hive mind. I mean really come on now. You know there were more black people than that one guy who didn't vote for Obama. Hell there were a lot of black people who just didn't vote period. Contrary to what you may think, we don't all think alike. While the majority of AA's were for Obama, there were a small percentage who were not. Now my aunt and her family are black republicans, and they were for Obama, but only begrundingly because they didn't like the choice of Palin as VP. The other black people I know who didn't vote for Obama or vote at all were either far far left, far right, or did not vote for him for religious/conspiracy reasons. So yes Virginia, not all black people were weeping with joy when Obama won. (I was though!).

    20. I apologize if you were offended
It wasn't my intent. Mostly, I was astonished at someone who would vote against his own best interests. Not only vote against them, but expose that ignorance to an entire group of people this afternoon.

I fail to understand why a vote for the other guy would be any occasion to be proud at all.

Again, I apologize; I'm glad to hear your point of view.
Noooooooooooooo... we are NOT elitist... WE JUST KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR, (and you don't), that's all.

Oblahblah was elected by 52 percent of those who voted, and that was under half the population of 300 million...so we take 150 million divided by two and we get maybe fifty - sixty million who voted for this jerk..which means that THREE QUARTERS of all Americans did not vote for Mr Socialism and THAT translates into a shitload of black people who didnt vote for Ol' JugEars.

    Millions of them.

Oh good grief. First of all, 69.5M people voted for Obama, not "maybe fifty-sixty million." Secondly, to say that "THREE QUARTERS" of all Americans did not vote for Obama is disingenuous. Many of those people were not allowed to vote for (or against) Obama. We tend to discourage five year olds for example from voting.

This was an argument made by liberals and derided by conservatives in 2000 when Georgie lost the popular vote but claimed a mandate. The circle has come full.

Actually I refuse to group people by their color. I have the same faith and suspicions toward any new people I meet. So, no. I don't see "blacks" as an enemy of your "middle America". what ever that is. So, I'm what...a racist? Or maybe you'll explain why I'm so ignorant as to not categorize myself or others. And, maybe you'll explain how you hold this extraordinary wisdom that allows you to do so. And, of course you'll explain how doing so is not an act of prejudice in itself, but rather is somehow enlightened.
Do you feel blacks or other "groups " should listen to you instead of making their own decisions concerning casting their votes?

You liberal POC LIAR. Next time you see a liberal car, (you know: Prius, Outback, VW bug or Van, etc),,,,read the bumperstickers. You liberals are ther rudest, most vocal in-your-face crowd going. I told a friend that Conservatives usually don't put stickers on their cars but liberals put several.

Do I dare mention your made up stories of rude encounters YOU liberals initiate with Conservatives?

It seems liberals have to share their idiotic talking points with everybody. It is extremely rare to see more than one or two stickers on a Conservative's car. Liberals apparently use them to hold their crappy cars together.
