Anyone using this??
I've seen job posting for people who know this and I'd never
heard of it. Looks like it's been around for a while, I'm downloading

It's a Web 2.0 development language/tool.
Ruby as a language compiles with a standard Java compiler. Ruby on Rails needs a website to work.

It won't be of interest to you unless you are a web developer.
Personally, I prefer Django.... but RoR is the flavor of the month for now..
