146. I don't care if "Michelle said it first!"....
For all the "She's the one who said it, why can't they say it?" crowd which, thankfully, there doesn't seem to be too many... Did Michelle refer Barack as "My baby daddy"? Yeah, it appears that she did. In jest, with no intent to be insulting to him or herself.
People, people, people...
Do I have to go through the list of things black folks can say to/about each other that other folks are not allowed to say--or, more accurately, stuff that, if other folks do say it as they have a clear constitutional right to, might still
get them cracked in the mouth regardless of granted constitutional privilege?
Naw, I won't go that route as it'll seem it's a double standard (which it is that you violate at your own peril). Let me put it like this. Sometimes when I forget stuff I say to myself "You're such a moron". If I'm with friends on occasion when I get annoyed with myself they'll sometimes jokingly agree, "Yeah, you are kind of a dumbass". I chuckle at them and tell them to shut the hell up and move on with my day.
Here's the thing. Could you imagine what my response would be if some prick I don't know just randomly decides to call me a name or insult me? My first comment would likely be "Excuse you?" as I like to do sometimes and then it's likely our conversation would be all down hill, though terribly "colorful", from there. Why? One, they're not trying to be funny, they are actually trying to demean me. Two, they don't know me like that and they're out of line for sticking their nose in.
I don't care if Michelle said it. Michelle was making a joke. Michelle was trying to be funny (and it kinda was). Michelle was in no way trying to demean herself or her husband. Their supporters were a crowd that perceived it as being "cute" because they had no desire to insult or demean them either.
There is no doubt that Fox News thought it was being funny here, the question is who were they trying to amuse and what kind of mentality and way of thinking were they trying to appeal to with this joke? By the by, if this little graphic was a simple reference to a comment Michelle had made of course they explained the context of their joke, letting everyone know why they decided to call her that as opposed to just throwing that out there for kicks... Right?
