    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! :D

Dallas police wrongly ticketed at least 39 drivers for not speaking English over the last three years, Police Chief David Kunkle announced Friday while promising to investigate all officers involved in the cases for dereliction of duty.

Pending cases will be dismissed, and those who paid the $204 fine for the charge, which does not exist in the city, will be reimbursed, Kunkle said.

"I was surprised and stunned that that would happen, particularly in the city of Dallas," Kunkle said. "In my world, you would never tell someone not to speak Spanish."

The citations were issued in several different patrol divisions by at least six different officers. One of those officers was responsible for five of the citations, Kunkle said.
    I'm sorry, but I can't stop laughing...:D

Simple question - if you don't speak english - how the fuck are you going to read the traffic signs?

Me neither. I bet they will not be able to find half of them.

That's not right though. How would like to be driving in another country and could not speak the language but could read the road signs?

I don't speak Japanese but somehow I managed to learn to drive in Japan for 4 years without any mishaps.

That doesn't really answer his question.

I have one - How did they pass the written part of the driving examination? Is it administered in Spanish too?

Not sure about Texas, but in California you can take the written test in spanish and many other languages. It is the same with voting.

perhaps. I still find it disconcerting that people who cannot read the signs are allowed to drive. Scares me even more that people with third world drives licenses are permitted to drive . . . .

The important ones are mostly pictures and numbers.

    Driving isn't rocket surgery.
