Now days I tend to think of myself more as a conservative than a Republican and the reason behind that has to do with much of what Troll posted. Republicans regained power in 1994 and then they started behaving exactly like those they were replacing. In the long run the two sides were only different in their rhetoric and where they come down on issues. In practice, however, they were exactly the same as the dems they replaced. They talk about reducing government spending and encroachment in to our private lives but act contrary to their words. Why? Because keeping their jobs became more important than actually doing the right thing. Same as the dems.
You have a different view of what "socialized medicine" is from me then. What on earth is 500 billion in government spending on medicare?

How is the largest medical social program ever enacted by a Republican NOT socialist?
Maybe these late victories are cause for some people to claim total victory, but we would never be here if Republican's were holding true to free market principles and educating the public on the truth about how involved the Government really is in our health care system. Our mindset is pretty accepting of government intervention in medicine as long as it's a Republican doing it it would seem.
I mean, whats really the big difference in 530 billion if it's Republicans or if it's 1 trillion if it's a Democrat?
With friends like Bush who'l just move us piece by piece closer to socialism, who needs the Democrats to do it so blatantly?
as usual...spot on correct.
Exactly. We are born with perfectly intact natural rights. Our job is to retain as many of those rights as is humanly possible in the face of government (run by the right or the left).
The Republicans are less rapacious and less destructive to those rights. The operative word today being "less".
There is a growing movement toward conservative values and away from Republican party planks that may become a game-changer inside of 10 years. We'll see. ;)
Has the troll come back? Or is this one just dropping one post wind ups and leaving?
what does troll mean? are you referring to the guy named troll or are you calling me a troll? i haven't heard that word since elementary school a long long time ago.
sorry to break it to you but im not trying to stir up shit in here it was just a simple question that wasn't meant to be taken as offensive to republicans and you are right if I wanted to stir you guys up I probably would've done it a different way. if you want we can ask the same question about democrats but i think they have enough people out there that preach what they do on a daily basis e.g. al gore. what is a du name?
