    i think it is too early to pull the trigger on global warming. the science is too complex to make the call one way or the other as well as climate modeling being on the shady side (read superfreakonomics...great book). Right now its a left wing scare tactic just as global cooling was in the 70's.

    "You're not going to find many "Republicans" here. You're going to find a lot of CONSERVATIVES."

    That is very interesting because the two are used interchangeably most often. Can you be a democrat and conservative or a republican that wants huge government? It's just a question... no offense to anyone.

    To me, a "conservative Democrat" is just a Socialist, not a full blown Communist.
    And a Republican who wants huge government is a Socialist too.

    But that also goes the same way for "socialist" and Democrats. I know plenty of principled socialists who rarely vote Democrat. I guess it's how much you believe in the left right paradigm.

    What is keeping us stuck on this left/right paradigm. What would be the harm in having a multiparty system whereby we have left, right, middle or something else?

    But with the current two party system, we don't have a lot of choice. I'd rather vote for someone who is "somewhat" conservative than throw away a vote and insure the election of someone who is clearly a communist.

    We are facing a "lesser of two evils" situation, and have been for some time.

    According to the newbies idea, the current Republicans would become the middle, and the conservative right should split off of it...but that will never happen.
