Since we're now using the National Equirer as a source for information regarding politicians, I hope we will regard it as a credible source all throughout the campaign.

I hate to say it, but they were the best source on the Lewinsky scandal, but I suspect that it was because they weren't embarassed by it the way that the NY Times and the rest of the MSM were.

The big question will be whether other media outlets pick up the story.

Same here and the N.E. is a sleazy rag. I thought it was low class of him to drag his wife thru a campaign when she has cancer so it would not surprise me if this story is true. .

If it's true (and I think it is) I feel sorry for Elizabeth Edwards and his children. Politically we are at odds, but humiliation jumps boundaries.

This doesn't surprise me, either. I always wondered how such a vacuous man stayed faithful. He could have at least stayed faithful while that poor woman is fighting the cancer. I guess she didn't have the good grace to die quickly enough for him.

He's a pig without any moral clarity.

as it relates to the Nat'l Inq. even a broken clock is right twice a day. I want to believe it because Edwards is such hypocritical, smarmy, lying prick that he deserves it, as for Elizabeth, I can't feel sorry for a willing accomplice in John's willingness to destroy all others on his way to power.

"Wanting to believe something" is a very dangerous thing. In effect, your imposing your belief code, whether it be moral, ethical, religious, social, etc., upon objective facts in order to evaluate those facts to reach a conclusion.
