And what is the natural protocol again?

Who was I "arguing" with again?

    What I thought.

    The POTUS never bows.

    To. Anyone.

Over 200 years, and Obozo breaks protocol.....

Nixon "Bowed." Of course he didn't bend himself double and fawn like a fool - but he did bow.

And he rightly got raked over the coals for it back then. State occasions are supposed to follow a certain protocol just to prevent one party's enthusiasm or misplaced manners from making that individual a laughing stock.

Bowing and scraping in front of god kings, giving back rubs to female heads of state, and tossing your cookies all over a Prime Minister are things that protocol is designed to prevent. When Presidents begin to believe that they can solve diplomatic etiquette problems on the fly, they look like clowns. Which makes us look like clowns.

I think you've solved the mystery of the Obamas' gaffes. Although he probably has been getting bad advice, it is also likely that his hubris and pride prevents his LISTENING to any information on etiquette. He probably insists on doing his own thing. Michele clearly has no one advising her on her clothes or proper behavior with royalty or else, like her husband, just doesn't listen.

Or stated a different way: Shuck and Jive Replaces Dignity and Protocol.

Wait till the opening ceremonies of the 2010 winter games. During the parade of nations, the US is the only, and has always been the only. country not to dip the flag when passing the host countries head of state. If they dip the flag it will be on direct orders.

It's a shame POTUS is making such an ass of himself on his latest
"Tour". Though I really can't get myself worked up about a bow the
fact that he screwed it up shows he either isn't listening to his State
Dept. protocol people...or he's just stupid.

I'm surprised he didn't give Hu a box of Fortune Cookies.
May the FORCE be with you!

Or an autographed copy of one of his fictional books.

OBlah Blah may have another problem; his protocol people may be as ignorant and inept as the rest of his traveling circus.

I'm betting he fired them and replaced them with hacks.
