Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives Greg Goode, of Indiana, right, talks about his visit to Alaska's North Slope and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge during a news conference in Anchorage, Alaska Thursday, July 17, 2008. Seven Republican candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives visited Alaska's Arctic and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge on a fact-finding tour this week focusing on how Alaska's potential oil and gas recourses can offer a solution to the national energy crisis. Gov. Sarah Palin, left, listens.

Considering the potential mess that oil drilling and transportation represents, and the amount of scientific knowledge that’s been gained since that tanker ran aground, I can’t imagine why, say a $1,000 fine for every gallon spilled can’t be levied against the polluter - like the EPA does with my facility’s hazardous waste.
At Coretta Scott King's funeral in early 2006, Ethel Kennedy, the widow of Robert Kennedy, leaned over to him and whispered, "The torch is being passed to you." "A chill went up my spine," Obama told an aide. (Newsweek)

When oil spills happen, companies are fined.

BTW, the EPA is a sorry outfit that does NOT have the public best interests at heart. Thousands of workers and residents will suffer the after effects of pollution and disease from Katrina. The area that was flooded should have been bulldozed, quarantined and placed off limits from any new construction or repair.

The Ethanol manufacturers with the help of the EPA lobbied Congress to raise the pollution standards so that they were not in violation of state and federal pollution levels. I think this is a first for any industry.

Hmmm….isn’t the head of the EPA a presidential appointee?

Yeah, so? I like Bush, but I don't bow to his altar.

You’d think that somebody the President of the United States appointed would show some form of loyalty.

I think Scott McClelland has already disproven that theory. My point is...... Government is crooked, no matter who's in charge. it's just a matter of how crooked.
