    The Killer Counter-tops thread got me thinking.

    What are your favorite remodeling ideas? Your most hated trends? What absolutely doesn't work for real people? What is just silly? What is just inexplicable to you?

    I have no idea why people are in love with travertine tile. I do not understand the "spa" thing at all. If you never cook, why would you pay for an industrial stove?

    Some of the things I like and have incorporated are;

    1. Heated tile floors in colder climates.
    2. Added overhead rain shower heads.
    3. Installed taller bathroom counter tops to relieve strain the lower back.
    4. Installed on demand tankless hot water so we never run out of hot water.
    5. Built a HUGE shower space with a built in bench and niches for various soaps/shampoos.
    6. Lower windows in the house so sitting in a chair I can look directly outside without rising up.

    We have the tankless water heater system and it is pretty amazing. I also like the double pane windows with the decorative features inside but my windows are already at eye level.

    I have to admit that I don't "get" the palatial bathroom additions. I'm a clean freak and all that but I don't spend a lot of time in my bathrooms.

    All pools are endless. You just have to turn around every once in awhile.:p
