Department of Justice to Announce Charges Against Sen. Stevens



WASHINGTON — Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, has been indicted on seven "charges related to (his) holding of public office," two federal government sources told FOX News on Tuesday.

The Department of Justice has announced a 1:20 p.m. ET press conference that a release says is "regarding a criminal matter."

What's there to say? If he's guilty, he'll go to jail. The Republicans in the senate won't do a thing to help him, and neither will the party as a whole. When our guys fall, we let them land hard. It's only Democrats who try to brazen it out when they're caught red-handed. Remember Rep. William Jefferson and his $90,000 in extremely cold cash? He had the entire Democratic caucus working to overturn the search warrant on separation of powers. How about the Democratic senators who got sweetheart loans from a company that they're now bailing out to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars? For that matter, remember a Democratic president who lied under oath, not once, but repeatedly, to each branch of the government and paralyzed his administration for two years?

He is an old man and I do not think he has done anything that justifies jail.
If he is guilty and I do not agree with his politics at all but let him pay the fine and leave him be.
I do think he should give up his senate seat and everyone else in either party who has accepted money
from sweetheart deals regardless of party. We might have a clean slate then and so many would be gone from congress...on both sides of the aisle.
