Sounds like people are grasping for straws. Paul, Cheney and West will not make the grade. Palin is going to get the nomination and be our next President.
I'll agree with your statement on Paul, Cheney and West, but I don't think Palin can cross the finish line. Don't get me wrong, I like Palin, and would vote for her. She is very popular within the GOP, but you can't win elections with just one political party base. She has win over the independents, and pick up some of the left as well. That leaves the question, can she do that, or is she too limited in the scope of voters to cross the finish line and defeat Obama?
I think we could run Donald Duck and beat Obama. For 1 simple reason: there is no way that almost 9 million people are going back to work in the next 3 years. A Repub Prez can run on "it's the economy stupid" and win. The economy will be in a very, very slow improvement if we are lucky and don't slip back into a recession. Independents are not going to vote for a Prez that is a complete failure. Independents in droves have left the democrats. This will continue because of the uncertainty of the job market, housing, credit, taxes, etc. Of course, a Repub Prez. contender will have to have ideas and a vision to turn this train wreck around but a one eyed drunk monkey could do that.
True and correct on your point, but being a voter, pissed because of high unemployment, who are you more likely to vote for. Some one with limited political experience, or some one with s healthy portfolio of experience? Sara still has that problem dogging her, she lacks the proven experience. She's learned, and is learning a lot, but voters will not soon forget she quit as Gov. of Alaska half way through her term, where many others who will run will have served many years and will have a strong record of experience under their belt to prove they should know how to fix the problems we are/will be facing, and won't quit half way through their term in office. Sara will be dogged by that unfortunate fact for years, fair or unfair.
Now please don't insult me by trying to say Obama has proven you don't need that experience to win. As his win was thanks to the hate the voters held to Pres. Bush, and wanting to vote for any one not Republican, as they were very angry for the way the GOP behaved and what they precieved as the GOP losing their way. The voting mass didn't vote for Obama because they thought he was the more experienced, they were voting against Bush.
If Dick Cheney did become President they'd have to change from Hail to the Chief to this song....it's only fitting....
