Arizona Legislature passes measure for Obama: Show Birth Certificate and Prove Citizenship,

Edited on Wed Feb-24-10 10:40 PM by Edwin Edwards Fan
This is no joke and News Agencys are making this going mainstream for the first time.
I can't believe a state legislature would do this. This has got to backfire on Hayworth. I can’t wait to hear what McCain has to say about this and will other states do the samething like Arizona? Is this a good idea to make a candidate show a birth certificate in order to run for elected office?

Every news agency has picked this story up since the Legislature did this.

    Local State Story:

PHOENIX – Nearly half of the Arizona Legislature wants to force President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate to state officials if he runs for re-election.

A state House committee on Tuesday approved the measure sponsored by 40 of the state's 90 legislators. It would require presidential candidates who want to appear on the ballot in Arizona to submit documents proving they meet the requirements to be president.

All 40 co-sponsors are Republicans, comprising 75 percent of the GOP caucus. Two of them have since resigned to run for Congress.

The idea was proposed by Skull Valley Republican Rep. Judy Burges. She says if people have to prove their citizenship to apply for a job or get a passport, they should have to prove it to run for president

Of course this is what the law says:

All they can do is go on and on about how dumb it is and how racist it is.

    19. They wear the stupid like a badge of honour.

It's the only honour they will ever receive, the stupid badge.

    12. Amazing isn't it? The one person that was not born in a state is not asked to prove he is a citizen
They're rather ignorant aren't they. McCain showed his birth certificate when he was asked to, unlike Obama.

    17. McCain is white. White = OK.

That's the difference. Racists are not dealing well with a black man in the White House.

    21. Frank Schaeffer says they know exactly what they're doing.

I haven't seen this much race hatred since I was a little girl. And certainly not anyone fanning it in the halls of government or enshrining it in effing law.
They sure are stuck on racism aren't they? Don't they know how dumb they sound calling this racism?

I'm pretty shocked. Can someone explain why this WASN'T already the law?

He was born on a naval base that was controlled by the US at the time. Where do you think he was born, Venezuela?

God, just when I think these people can't be any more idiotic, they always seem to prove me wrong. It still amazes me that they can play the race card.

Because I don't think anyone ever imagined that someone who ran for president would have had their birth certificate in doubt after they got elected to office. But yeah, this is one of those things that should have been implemented many years ago.
