Children can't hear fire alarms

Surely the purpose of the alarm is to alert the adults. If parents seriously want an alarm that wake everybody, they need to install commercial grade alarms. Those alarms are designed to actually cause physical pain.

There goes the plan to put the smoke alarm in the kids area so they can fight the fire and only wake me up if they can't put it out.

I mean, I don't have kids, but if I did, that had been my plan.

They should never be left laying around loaded. Always keep them out of reach in a safe place.

I have smoke alarms, but I depend more on my dogs to wake me up. I have
two little yorkies, and they let me sleep in my bed with them. They wake
me up to let me know if the room temperature changes one degree.....you
can't get anything past them.

That was interesting though, that the kids woke up in seconds at the sound
of their parents voice. That all changes when they get in high school. You
can yell all you want at a 17 year old and they just sleep right through it.

i believe it has to do with the ptich, also kids reconise their parents voices. They do have fire alarms that record the parents voice and uses that inplace of the beeping
