The Repubs picked up 52 House seats in 1994. The economy is worse with high unemployment, and they feel that the politicians are not listening to their concerns. Consequently, I think the slaughter will be much worse as evidenced by recent elections held in VA, NJ and MA. The media and Democrats want to downplay their losses. Their estimates of 17-21 are BS and the Repubs do not want to sound too overconfident.
