Man Jumps To Death Off Empire State Building
1:46pm UK, Wednesday March 31, 2010
A man has died after falling from the observation deck of the Empire State Building, in an apparent suicide.
Over 30 people have committed suicide on the Empire State Builiding since 1931
The 21-year-old is thought to have climbed over the barriers on the 86th floor of the New York landmark, and landed on the pavement outside a branch of Bank of America during rush hour.
Police were forced close a block of West 34th Street around the building, as his body lay at the northwest corner of the 102-storey skyscraper.
The observation deck was not busy at the time of the man's death, which meant he could climb over the 10ft-high fence unchallenged.
His identity has not yet been revealed but authorities believe that he was a student at one of the city's universities.
A witness told the New York Daily News: "He came down in front of the Bank Of America. Boom! It was an explosion.
"His body was shattered and his sneakers were scattered on the sidewalk."
The building was constructed in 1931, and since being built, more than 30 people are thought to have committed suicide from it.

Having been there a number of times...it takes a lot of "work" to jump off that building anymore. This dude must have really wanted to off himself (and make a name for himself) to go through all that effort.Voted hottest "chick" at CU - My hotness transcends gender

He was very determined, it couldn't have been easy to get by the barriers.
One of my friends in high school went on a church trip to Chicago and happened to be standing right outside of the Sears tower when someone jumped and landed about 30 feet from where she was standing. She was pretty traumatized by the whole thing, but she said the guy landed on a car, and there wasn't much of him or the car left after the impact.

Before you can do things for people, you must be the kind of man who can get things done. But to get things done, you must love the doing, not the people!

"after falling from the observation deck of the Empire State Building, in an apparent suicide"??
He only fell after he JUMPED! That's like saying the airliner landed in the ocean."The efforts of the government alone will never be enough. In the end the people must choose and the people must help themselves" ~ JFK; from his famous inauguration speech (What Democrats sounded like before today's neo-Liberals hijacked that party)
