#1 Tsunami Alert As Major Quake Hits Sumatra

A major earthquake that struck off the coast of Aceh on Indonesia's Sumatra island has sparked panic amid tsunami alerts.
Many fled for higher ground but no deaths were reported and an initial tsunami alert has been lifted. Neighbouring Thailand and Malaysia also cancelled tsunami warnings.
Reports in Sinabang on Simeulue island, south of Aceh and close to the epicentre of the 7.7 magnitude quake, said electricity was cut in the area.
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency said 12 people were being treated in a hospital in Sinabang, with injuries caused by fallen electricity poles, roof tiles and shattered glass. ...
