Well Switzerland is a socialist country so it kinda makes sense.....

Nay you repeatedly punch him in the throat as he slowly drags you away.

It doesn't add up Blinky. Why would they want to get away from the press THAT'S ON THEIR SIDE!?!?!?!

The tabloid press is only on their own side-they love to take anyone down, whatever their politics.

Not that I'm defending eyelids or George Clooney, but there is a difference between the tabloid press, which seems to enjoy hounding young, mentally unstable, pop stars until they crack and the NBC/ABC/CNN guys who do appear to be on Obama's side.

I still don't see that as a good reason to hold a political fundraiser for an american candidate in Switzerland.

I'm not going to be at the dinner (I had other plans) so I have no idea who will be there, but I'm pretty sure they arent' freaking out about this like you are.

The Academy Award winning actor officially endorsed Obama early last year calling him a ‘rock star.’ Clooney compared him to the likes of John and Robert Kennedy saying, “Few people in my lifetime, that I’ve heard speak made me want to get up and do something,” but cautioned, “I don’t want to hurt him by saying that.”

Although next months fundraiser is taking place overseas, the campaign specified only U.S. Citizens with a passport will be allowed to contribute to the campaign.

Except that the only reason most of these clods go to these events is for the press exposure so that they can show what good little global citizens they are. They go whichever way they perceive the major players going in order to stay in their good graces. This isn't national politics, it's office politics.

The only one freaking out here is you. Try to stop cursing at the mods unless you enjoy being exiled.
This is arguably the worst possible way to do a fundraiser for a candidate who is perceived as elitist and out of touch. Holding a fundraiser in one of the most expensive venues in the world, where only the hyper-rich can play, and doing it in such a way that everyone's first thought is whether or not foreign nationals will skirt the rules and contribute. The only way that this could look worse for Obama is if Clooney included Robert Mugabe, Slobodan Milosevic and Paris Hilton as guest speakers.

Before you can do things for people, you must be the kind of man who can get things done. But to get things done, you must love the doing, not the people!

Mugabe is too busy trying to get his Chinese arms merchants to get him a seat in Beijing, Slobodan assumed room temperature some time ago, and Paris had to be present at the opening of a car door in California.

For some reason I don't believe it. The political donations from non-US Citizens will be quietly accepted.

You have absolutely nothing to back this up, at all.
