The hypocrisy is not in his action or the absolution in his apology. His hypocrisy is doing (over and over and over, it would seem) something which he was loudly ADVOCATING others NOT do. He presented himself as someone who stood for a certain standard of behavior, so of COURSE it's amusing when he trips over his own dick.

He screwed up and he is resigning because of it. How is that hypocritical? I suppose you have never fallen short in regard to one of you principles? Does that make you a hypocrite or just human? If his actions are an example of an ongoing pattern of behavior then he is a hypocrite, otherwise this is just a lapse in judgment.
