#1 Helen Thomas Apologizes For Telling Jews To “Get The Hell Out Of Palestine”06-06-2010, 07:16 AM
It’s interesting when a genteel, respected person has a couple of drinks and lets out their true feelings. When the person is a closet bigot, it can be very educational. Helen Thomas treated the world to just such a teachable moment when she said on video that Jews should “Get the hell out of Palestine.” The comments ignited a firestorm of criticism as news of Thomas’s remarks became public knowledge.Thomas is a senior and favored member of the White House Press Corps and a lavishly credentialed reporter of national renown. Her remarks sent shock waves through the media, raising legitimate questions about the private prejudices of those who shape the public’s view of Israel and world events.
YNET News reports as follows on her apology.
“After making a vitriolic statement against the presence of Jews in the State of Israel, Thomas issued an official statement of apology, saying, “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians.”
A greater question is about the ignorance of such a seasoned reporter as Thomas, and how it reflects the acceptability of such opinions about Israel among news reporters.
Before the war, before people like Ms. Thomas started telling the Jews to “”Get The hell out of Palestine, the Nazi slogan was “Jews go to Palestine. At the end of the war, it was in many cases dangerous for the surviving remnant of European Jewry to return to the homes they had lived in before the war. Additionally, almost a million Jews were driven out of Arab countries during the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Israel has absorbed these Jews who were pushed out of countries in which their ancestors had lived for centuries. Are not the properties they left behind stolen? Ms. Thomas is vocal in her advocacy for Arabs. What if those Arabs are Jews?
Helen Thomas has a profession that makes it possible for her to seek truth with far greater resources than common folk. What has she done with that opportunity? The results are clear to see in her brief interview. Regardless of her subsequent apology, she has opened the window of her soul to public view. And it’s not a pretty sight.

She is only apologizing because she knew someone was going to throw a fit."What this country needs are more unemployed politicians."
