I got your point and the fact that she lives in New Mexico might make a difference. When you get away from the LA crowd for a bit, you begin to realize how America really lives.

Shirley MacLaine lives about 50 miles down the road from us. I've never met her but know several people who have. Like 99% of people I know, they're right wing and Conservative living in a very democratic, liberal county. They like her. She's very down to earth and a very regular unassuming person.

The other side of the coin is Hanoi Jane who does, or did, live on a spread near Pecos, next door to Val Kilmer's ranch/farm. He's a fairly private person, but fits the whack job label much better than MacLaine.

Hanoi Jane? Well, no comment there. I'm afraid my keyboard might melt if I used the words I'd like to use about her.
