Well, I found an alternative to "smite button" (Yes I still remember SR using that term during Bush Jr's two terms, photographic memory's a curse, etc) ;)
And what's the point of running someone ideologically pure enough for you, if they're going to get completely wiped out in the November election?

California is a blue state in most state-wide elections. Arnold won because he is a liberal republican. Pete Wilson was a moderate republican. Reagan was the only conservative republican governor of CA in the last 50 years.
It doesn't make sense for a conservative republican to run, because then the moderates will either not vote or vote for Moonbeam. But if there is a better GOP choice than Moonbeam, they'll vote for that candidate.
Since this tool keeps posting this crap i'll repost this:
I'm not really for the whole "Big Tent" thing, but everyone has their differences of opinion. American's in general have gone back and forth on different issues depending on what is going on at the time.
for example, Jefferson HATED the Bank of the United States. But guess what financed the Louisanna Purchase?
I'm not overlly concered on wether Whitman is Pro-life or Pro-Choice at a personal level. It's weither she is in her polices. Obviouslly she doesn't have much of a track record due to being in the private sector, but if/when she starts to consider passing pro-choice bills, THATS the time to start bitching.
Oh I'm all for the big tent. :) Difference being that IMO the Big tent is conservatism. We don't have to move left to get people to come in from the cold. We just need to stand true and they'll come over. Sure they won't agree on all points, but as long as they agree with the salient points of the day - that's fine. TODAY'S salient points are economic more than social. Social issues will come back to the forefront when the economy is fixed. In the mean time however, it's time to elect fiscal conservatives.
Which is what Meg Whitman has promised to do. Whether or not she follows through remains to be seen but I'm willing to give her a chance. She's a whole lot better than Moonbeam that's for sure. Too bad Asshole 128 doesn't have a clue as to how politics here in California work. If he did he'd keep his pie hole shut.
