I hope the Repubs nominate an outsider that has not been a career or DC politician. Someone that will cut spending like what Greece and Spain are doing. I don't think there is a politician on the hill that would propose that bitter pill. Spending is out of control and needs to be cut sharply.

Well, Bush wasn't a career or DC politician and he could sure spend with the best of them. So I don't know if that's a safe litmus test. Although, I would prefer a complete outsider that simply has "common sense" and knows what it's like to go through life as an unprivileged normal person.

Sure, because why pay attention to the REAL problems in this country when you can be distracted with people's personal lives? ;)

As governor, he was definitely a fiscal liberal.

Yes an outsider, but someone with a lot of executive experience under their belt.
We've seen now what happens when you put some inexperienced dweeb in office.
The President needs to be someone who can handle a crisis, the press, recognize
the qualities in others than it takes to put a good cabinet together (not just had out
    Tzarships to friends).

We need to stop electing people because they look good on tv or the come from a
particular party. We need to exercise more due dilligence when we review the
resumes of those applying for the job, just like you would if they were being hired
to run your own company. Our POTUS is not just a figure head like the English
monarchy - he's a working man in charge of the largest corporation in the world.

The poll question is: If Governor Mike Huckabee became the Republican nominee for president in 2012, and Obama remained the Democrat nominee, would you vote for Mike Huckabee for president?
Staunch social conservative my ass. He's a populist.
Stand up for what is right, even if you have to stand alone.

Do you even understand what his "truce on social issues" is about? It's about getting the Ship sound and seaworthy before worrying about what color/material the banisters are. If the Finances of the country are sinking us (which they are) then we need to get that shit straightened out. Especially when that guy turned Indiana into the ONLY state in the Midwest that his financially sound at the moment (1.3 BILLION dollar surplus)

You're going to back a guy that is pretty good on social issues, but EXTREMELY lax on Fiscal issues. I will give him he was on of the few that backed the Fair Tax, but the rest of it is crap.
