In fact, it's not that bad. For us. First, these aren't poll numbers, they're primary ballot returns. The margin of error is zero, or had better be. An incumbent who fails to poll more than 50% in a primary, especially one who's been in office as long as Murray has, is in trouble. It means that her enthusiasm level among her own party is low. That translates into mediocre turnout on her side. If the Republican energizes his base and picks up the moderates, then she's toast. And, let's remember that Murray, in addition to being the fourth most powerful Democrat in the senate, may also be the dimmest. She was the one who claimed that Osama Bin Laden was beloved because of his public works in Afghanistan, including his daycare centers. Aside form the fact that Bin Laden never built a damned thing in Afghanistan (unless you count suicide bomb vests and mounds of stones over homosexuals), al Qaeda and the Taliban are two of the most backwards, misogynist groups in the world. They'd be more likely to build a Jimmy Dean processing plant than daycare centers.
In a just universe, an imbecile like Murray would be toast. Perhaps the scales are finally balancing in Washington State.
