    Cast your burden on the Lord,
    and he will sustain you;
    he will never permit
    the righteous to be moved.

    I though the same thing.

    The fact that the whole concept of the progressive church is a form of idolatry where their god is created and recreated based on what "feels good" to them and ignores what iGod has stated is good would crack me up if the long term ramifications weren't so sad.

    Summary

    1. What expressions have you heard that you think fit with the postmodern worldview?

    "Do what is right in your own eyes."
    "Everything is up for individual interpretation."

    Why did you post this particular link? Did you not know what postmodernism is or why it would be a discussion topic among Christian youth groups?

    Nothing about "progressive" churches is this simplistic.

    Even conservatives pick and choose which scriptures are meant literally and which aren't. If they didn't, they'd be maiming themselves whenever they sinned, and since all are sinners, they'd all be looking like the Black Knight in Monty Python and The Holy Grail after a few weeks, since it is better to lose one's hand than allow it to be used for sin.

    Some scripture is obviously not literal. When Christ says that I am the door he is not saying that he is a object made of wood with hinges and something to grasp to help open him. However when Christ says that "no one comes to the Father except through me" we can take him literally. It is also pretty easy to tell when Christ is speaking hyperbole as in "if you eye causes you to sin then pluck it out" verses a command like "anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." This last one is interesting in that it is a specific command that uses a metaphor but yet the meaning is obvious since not every has been is to be nailed to a cross yet we are to carry our burdens as Christ carried his.
