It really is a nice smoker/grill. You can cook at any temp from 200F-800F.
It takes the place of a smoker with an offset firebox and is a whole lot easier to control the temp. For instance, you can set it for 220F and it will last for 14-16 hours. Some people have said it last 20 hrs at low heat. You get the good smoke flavor and smoke rings and the meat retains its moisture.
When I cook my ribs the other day I had it going for about four hours and it only used a little bit of charcoal, like 10%. Once you close the vents the fire goes out and you save your charcoal.
The flavor the meat cooked in the BGE is great.
I got the largest size (XL) and it was $999. The large size (L) was about $700 if I remember correctly. I bought about $400 worth of accessories like a stand and plate setter. The whole set up with everything you need will be around $1500 for the largest one.
I would recommend the largest one you can afford.
Tell the truth.
You got this "Egg" thingy at BB&B, didn't you? :D

OK my family came over this afternoon and I decided I just couldn't serve Cedar Plank Salmon. I have been a hetrosexual my whole life and I wasn't going to turn queer now.
I decided to have pizza instead. The Big Green Egg works great like a wood burning high temp oven.
We fixed the pizzas up and got the BGE up to 650 degrees.
The crust was nicely brown with a good smoke flavor to the pizza. Everything was perfect. Best pizza I had in a long time.
