Now I want to start this post by saying that I didn't like the Patriot Act. But this is a way, way waaaaaaaaay worse violation of my freedoms. And it's sheer hypocrisy for a liberal to say anything bad about Bush's stance on civil liberties and his expansion of Executive power without addressing crap like this:

    http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/n...g-patdowns.ars

Yesterday, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rolled out new nationwide rules for traveler pat-downs. Want to keep your genitalia private by avoiding the new backscatter security scanners? You can request a pat-down instead, but the TSA is intent on making sure you won't enjoy it. The new rules require agents to pay renewed attention to your crotch, and their hands won't stop until they meet testicular resistance. (No word on quite how far they'll go should you lack said testicles.)

Also note this is no Act of Congress, and no laws were passed. This is sheer and unbridled Executive Authority. Where's the outrage from the left?

This is a way way bigger news story than the elections.

Hmm, can you just show up for one of these pat downs or do you have to have a flight scheduled, a girl does it right!:)

I think that liberals are okay with this because it is physical. The left is very proactive when comes to far-fetched potential snooping on voices, images, or text but they have almost no reaction to physical intrusions of any kind.

They are okay with pat-downs, okay with weighing your kid, okay with performing abortions on kids without parental permission, okay with vaccinating girls to make them less likely to die from random sex. and okay with men appropriating the private spaces of women in the name of "transgender" rights. Basically, they are okay with any physical intrusion that primarily affects girls and women.

Liberal women are also okay with this. It's like they want to be chattel.

I disagree with all of the rest, but what's wrong with the bolded?

The vaccination is not without side-effects and it doesn't protect against all HPV viruses that cause cancer. There is a growing body of research that supports the idea that HPV is particularly dangerous for immature bodies, i.e., girls, teens, and very young women. Older women seem to have immune systems better able to deal with the virus. The vaccine gives girls and parents a false sense of security about STIs.

I'm not against vaccines. In addition to medical advances in childbirth and public sanitation, vaccines have dramatically extended lifespan. I'm just sensitive to the fact that this vaccine was promoted so widely because it supposedly "solved" another pesky sexual hurdle caused by simply being female. Men do not experience lethal effects from HPV infection even though they are primary carriers.

Well, the physical is the "alternative" to automatically getting a nude photo of you snapped and stored on a government hard-drive. Which is even creepier. Yes, the government will become the largest repository of child pornography.

No kidding. But heck - it's just women, kids, and fat old people so who cares? Oh, except that one TSA employee who was bitterly mocked for his small package after going through the scanner and his co-workers drove him crazy with the image and he went nuts. Except for that.

So basically the TSA is going to be conducting thorough pat searches. My thing would be that not one person is going to lay a hand on me until I see a personnel report indicating that this person isn't a pervert.
Progressivism is a bottomless pit of absurdity.
