There was in that moment, as Rangel proved unable to speak and covered his face with his hand, the first sign that the old lion from Harlem, decorated war veteran, seemed to understand how sorrowfully his hubris had done him in.

At 80 years of age, in his 40th year of congressional service but already stripped of the chairmanship that was the culmination of his career,

    from the same article...

""I just hope that no matter what you decide in the sanctions, that you put in there that Charles Rangel never sought any personal gain," Rangel said, his famously gravelly voice thick with moisture.''

    Followed by from the article...
He failed to pay taxes, failed to report income and assets on disclosure documents, solicited monies for a Rangel institute at City College on congressional letterhead and from people with business before his committee and occupied rent-stabilized apartments in violation of rules.

Yepper, no personal gain there, by golly.

And the crooked old slob cries and begs for mercy invoking his Korean war record and his advanced age
as a reason to spare him humiliation .If a conservative did what Rangel did he would be screaming for his blood.

He must have something on Pelosi the way she defends him . Maybe he's her illegitimate child ,GOD knows she's old enough !.

If the newly elected Congress has any ba*lls it will resurrect this whole thing and hang his crocked ass from the yardarm !

Boehner should introduce a bill expelling Charlie the thief Rangel from the House of Representatives and jail him for tax evasion Just as Sanchez did to Traficant !
