The point of the text message was NOT to find out first. IT was about adding an additional 5 Million
names to the mailing list.
Sorry to disappoint the idealism. but this really is about building momentum and fundraising.
There are 100,000 (give or take 95,000) disappointed people at DU.

I just came back from reading what the DUmmies had to say. :D
I can't believe that some of them are so stupid that they actually believed they'ed know who he picked before it was on the news. I also saw a lot of anti-Biden posts along with the threats of pizza being delivered. They're pissed about his votes on the bankruptcy bill and Iraq. This is better than Fitzmas. Oh, and one thing about Biden: at least he won't have to write his own speeches....he'll just steal them from somebody else.

If this action doesn't make the Obots think twice, then nothing will. They got a predictable old white male politics-as-usual Veep AND Barry has all their phone numbers on a huge list, which he can sell to anyone for quick cash!
I hope the DUmmies like robo calls....:D:D:D:D

I thought the text thing was silly. It sure was fun watching the DUers yesterday though. They are still whining because some of them never received their text messages but got money requests!
Not only has Obama turned this into a game show, he has also now built up expectations to the point where almost any selection would be a letdown. The two rumored picks, Joe Biden and Evan Bayh, do not scream excitement. They don’t have the kind of star status that would justify this kind of NFL Draft Day engineering. Only Hillary Clinton or Al Gore might approach that kind of celebrity. Hillary would be better announced at the convention than on a Saturday afternoon, and Gore has already done the VP gig for eight years.
Obama has made a mess out of this announcement, and blown a natural opportunity to demonstrate his leadership. He also has given John McCain a wide opening to handle his own running-mate announcement in a manner which will demonstrate the Gravitas Gap which has widened considerably this month between the two candidates.Last edited by LibraryLady; 08-23-2008 at 10:05 AM.

I was listening to CNN on XM this AM and I thought I was going to hear a porno movie happy ending when they were talking about Biden.
If I remember right, 8 years ago, the MSM was raking Bush over the coals over picking Cheney. Ye know the "Gravitas" issue and all.
And of course the dummies are aghast that the chosen one did not pick a person for change to go with his change. Never mind that some of them got their text messages 20 minutes after other dummies got theirs. Maybe now they will figure out that the democrat party does not give a rats ass about DU.

Now wait for the outraged howls as the Obama campaign sells the text message list to a spam company for a chunk of change and they start getting bombarded with Viagra text ads. :D
