747 slides off runway
Official to drivers: Stay home
Thousands in dark as bitter cold sets in
Abandoned cars posing snow removal and sanding problems
Icy conditions grip area: Some bus routes canceled
Ok, growing up in Montana, this is no big deal to me however, having to deal with all these idiots running around in their unprepared cars almost makes you want to go on a killing spree.....After spending 14 hours in my tractor yesterday delivering all sorts of shit, it took me over 5 hours to go from the eastside, where my route is to our Seattle terminal in South Seattle and then an extra three and a half hours to go 30 miles from Seattle to my home in Pierce county. I finally got home last night at 0030.
Told my dispatcher I wasn't coming in today unless there happens to be a mass suicide of Puget Sounders preventing them from driving on the ice anymore.

Every year, people around here act all crazy when we get our first major snowfall of the year. It's Michigan, we get snow, and people need to just learn how to deal with it.

And that is the difference between people who drive in the snow and ice and those that can't.....
Unfortunately, people out here get into their Subaru's, Volvo's and hybrids thinking they can deal with any weather situation.
The other problem we have out here are all the foreign born truck drivers who work the ports. None of them have any experience driving in the snow because they come from regions without the damn stuff. Anytime last night, if you saw a can hauler jackknifed, I guarantee you that 9 times out of 10 it was driven by a foreign national.

That global warming is a real bitch isn't it?
Progressivism is a bottomless pit of absurdity.

You have no idea....:D
Day three of "The Snowpocalypse" and it is hovering at 15 degrees.....Got the Jeep warming up as work called and actually said we will be "attempting" deliveries and pickups today...hahahaha.We have 45 drivers at the terminal and I am betting on only 10-15 showing up.
So I am figuring on my normal 45 min commute lasting another 90 min.
At least this storm has kept my mother in law in Spokane for the holiday. :D

When I was stationed in S. Carolina, we'd get a day or two a year of ice and snow. I refused to get in my car those days. I learned to drive in N. Michigan, so that stuff was nothing to me. It was all the freaking southerners who thought ice means go fast that scared me off the road.
In most sports, cold-cocking an opposing player repeatedly in the face with a series of gigantic Slovakian uppercuts would get you a multi-game suspension without pay.
In hockey, it means you have to sit in the penalty box for five minutes.

The east coast down to northern Florida used to get those damn ice storms.... While stationed on the USCGC Vigorous in New London, we came back off of our Grand Banks deployment and when we docked, I went to my car and there was 2inches of ice covering the whole damn thing. I had never seen anything like that before...
Anyways, off to work. Wish me luck. :(
