Kirschner's what pushed the the 2nd film into greatness. Saved us all from George Lucas directing it.
Empire is still my favorite of the series.Gun Control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound - Unknown

Empire is the best for a lot of reasons, but these are my main two reasons:
1. They didn't go for the happy ending, saving that for the last movie.
2. The movie didn't get sidetracked by a bunch of silly critters designed for the little kid audience-Yoda is a muppet and all, but he was a great character.
Return of the Jedi would have been much better without the Ewoks.
