Even though I didn't care much for his politics, John Lennon was one of the greatest musical minds of all time. He has been sorely missed.

I really wish he would have taking yoko out instead of john :(
I recall a comedy album with Denis Leary in which he talks about how all the good musicians die young and all the bad ones live to old age, and he comments, "The guy who killed John Lennon shot him 3 times, you'd think he could have used 1 of those bullets to take out Yoko, she was standing right next to him!"
I was in high school in 1980. Me and my brother always listened to the radios in our rooms when we were getting ready for school. He was not a Lennon fan at the time, and started yelling "Why are they playing all these John Lennon songs this morning, did he die or something?".
Then, of course, the DJ came on to tell us that John Lennon had been murdered the night before.
Mancow had a skit where you heard Mark David Chapman waiting for Lennon. The you hear Yoko Ono's voice in the distance. Next thing you hear is the gunshots and Chapman saying, Damn! I missed."
