.22 will only take out a zombie at very close range and lacks both penetration and stopping power. Any of the other calibers will do nicely for head shots, but will vary in suitability based on shooting conditions and zombie types. Full auto is not recommended, since multiple body shots are less effective than well-aimed single head shots, even in a crowd or swarm, but a good riot shotgun also works well at close range.

Unfortunately the public range closest to my house no longer allows human silhouette targets on the rifle or pistol ranges. Years ago at the same range I got some strange looks using a human silhouette to sight in my 308 at 150 yards and plinking with the SKS aiming for center mass and head shots.
I guess it is not politically correct to use a black silhouette on a light background anymore. I should ask if I can use a white one on a black background and tell them I am sighting in for glowing zombies at night.:D

My real present this year is my son coming home from the Army. He is on his way home from Ft Bliss right now.

I put together this AR for him. It is just like his service M-4. I had his regimental crest engraved on it.

Very nice. I hope they all come home sooner rather than later. Today we were talking about the memorable moments in our lives when our Fathers gave us a rifle. Something you don't forget. Kinda like getting your first pocket knife.

I just had a stroke of genius. If the US wants to increase recruitment to the armed forces, they should offer a Zombie School with a badge and everything.

This administration is more likely to invite zombies to serve openly, since they have been oppressed for so long. And it's an open secret that zombies vote Democratic, especially in Chicago, where the Undead American vote has been a critical constituency since the 1960 presidential election.
