OK I gave you the sauces but now to the meat of the matter! Hey Gator and poli, that was a pun!
The things to coat and cook in the tempura batter are numerous but here is what we used.
Red onion cuut into rings
red pepper cut into rings
orange pepper cut into rings
button mushrooms sliced
asparagus cut into thirds and toothpicked together
pork loin cut into medallions and pounded thin
To make the tempura batter:
2 cups of flour
2/3 cups of cornstarch
2 t baking powder
2 t salt
1/2 t cayene pepper
2.5 cups club soda!
Mix all dry ingredients together the add and stir with a fvork the club soda. It may be lumpy when done but that is okay!
Heat oil in a pot or cast iron kettle and get to 375 .
Dredge any ingredients ina ny order in the tempura and deep fry for about 2 minutes, all ingredients should cook in the same amount of time.
Take out and put on rack over paper towels to exorb the grease.
Dip pieces in the sauces from the other post and chow down!!! This can't be done on a green egg!
