Linda might, if she came from that direction!

Either way, it's going to be a big adjustment.

Well if you wanna keep tabs on it till it happens, it's rising in the east after dark. It's in the upper left of constellation Orion. Big red star.

That is correct. If we observe the collapse in 2012, then that means Betelgeuse collapsed 1300 years ago, and we are viewing it in a time-delayed fashion. Neutrinos and other particles with mass will follow, likely long after the light & radiation reaches us. For all practical purposes it doesn't matter though, any effects we experience will only be experienced once the light reaches us.

My 1300 year figure is from the article, I have no idea if the article is even remotely accurate about any of this.

"In England a king hath little more to do than to make war and give away places; which in plain terms, is to impoverish the nation and set it together by the ears. A pretty business indeed for a man to be allowed eight hundred thousand sterling a year for, and worshipped into the bargain! Of more worth is one honest man to society and in the sight of God, than all the crowned ruffians that ever lived."

Depends on how far it is from us. If it explodes "today" we won't see it for another 640 years.

Of course if it exploded 640 years ago, we'll see it tonight!

Indeed. BTW, you have Betelgeuse on your chin. :p
