actually I'm hoping one or two of the formats finally win out so don't need 15,000 readers or converts to read them

I'm not going to research it, but Charles de Montesquieu is probably the most mis-quoted person in history. If he did indeed write the above, I would be a little surprised. In 1721, Montesquieu wrote of the coffeehouse scene in France: “Were I the King, I would close the cafes, for the people who frequent those places heat their brains in a very tiresome manner. I would rather see them get drunk in taverns. Then, at least, they would harm only themselves, while the intoxication which coffee arouses in them causes them to endanger the country’s future.”
Montesquieu is the original proponent of the three branch form of government, which we use today. He also promoted the idea, still in use, of tipping the table toward the legislative branch. Obama tries to re-tilt the table through the use of Czars who answer only to him - the executive branch.
Quit giving away free refills and start charging for them and the places will probably stop complaining.
I quit going to Panera Bread because I got tired of seeing 1 person take up a table for 4 with their crap spread out all over the table.
Because of that we found a nice little coffee and bagel place owned by 2 sisters squeezed in between a pharmacy and a pizza place.
No free wireless, no free refills and always busy but with enough turnover to keep them and the customers happy.
