Some info for all of you.

Message from Local 1942 President

Dear Members,

These past few days have been extremely busy for those who are trying to find answers to questions regarding the governor's union bill. I appreciate all the support being shown and urge you to continue to show support via appropriate channels. Democracy allows for all of us to have a voice---And I have seen thousands of those voices.

I am committed to finding the answers to all those questions, but first we must continue the fight to protect our rights. After our contract expires, we will lose all bargaining rights AND employee relations provisions. Ever had an issue with a supervisor, well you may be losing any chance of getting it looked into after our contract expires!! Get to the Capitol off work time or with approval!

Please demonstrate the professionalism our Local union has shown through the years. In the workplace, be considerate and tolerant of those with differing opinions. Political discussions tend to polarize individuals and emotions tend to run high. Please refrain from disrupting our workplace in any way. Take your concerns to the capitol, email, or phone.

I have been awestruck by the support shown from our members and those not even affected by this change. Continue the positive fight! When we fight we win.

In solidarity,

Mike Ledwidge, BS, RDMS, RVT

UPDATE: WIlle Backes, Treasuer testified against this bill.
Mike Ledwidge, President signed up to testify and was not allowed after waiting till 3 am.

Without even trying to negotiate with unions, Wisconsin's governor has proposed radically changing state law to take away your bargaining rights and your union.

UPDATE: Currently, UWHC Employees appear to be exempt from this legislation until the expiration of the contract in four years. The hospital adminstration is in no way looking to cut pay or benefits as it was negotiated in good faith between both parties within our current contract. Please stay tuned for further updates as this is a very fluid situation. Take the time to contact your legislator and if you are able, please attend one or both of the rallies.

UPDATE 2/16/11 11:02 PM: As stated by the DOA during the testimony tonight, they clearly stated our contract would remain in force until it expires. Then we would lose collective bargaining!!

The governor solely wants to take away our contractual benefits and agreements made with UWHC, not the governor's office. Do not let him take away our contractual agreements made with our employer at UWHC!!
