It feels like Spring on the Mountain. I know it won't last but will enjoy it while it is here.

Today is the day for the Daytona 500. I'm not a NASCAR fan but I always watch this race because it is such a big deal and they do it up right down there. (This is the tenth running of the Daytona 500 since Dale Earnhardt was killed at the race ten years ago.)

I shouldn't say I'm not a NASCAR fan because I do keep track of the season and who is doing well, but I can't really sit and watch races every Sunday the way I can watch football.

A couple of weeks ago they ran the Rolex Series 24 Hours at Daytona. I watched a bit of that and found it interesting. It is set up as a road course and is an endurance race where they run for 24 hours.

They also run some motorcycle races at Daytona later in the year (maybe bike week). I really enjoy watching the motorcycles and think (know) that the riders are completely insane.

And, yes. I watch bicycle racing. And,yes, I watch the Tour de France. And, yes, that is a bicycle race. In France. :D

    TOTD: Do you enjoy racing?

I guess you're watching the race then. :D

It's lap 83 now and a lot of cars are out from wrecks.

Dale Jr. just led a lap. Nice.

I used to like NASCAR till they added the Chase and additional restrictor plate races in the name of "safety".

If someone can consistantly finish 2nd and have enough points to win the title, so be it.

If you can figure out how to drive 250 mph around the track and not die, you deserve to win.

The lucky dog " I get a lap back bacause I suck least of the loosers" rule, bullshit, race to get it back.

If you build a new track, please make it different than Charlotte.

We could say they are spending like drunken sailors. That would be unfair to drunken sailors, they're spending their OWN money.

That's what wrong with the Daytona 500. They over regulate the race and take away a teams engineering and driver advantage. It's turned into a lottery where anyone with a ticket (mediocre guys like Derrick Cope, Michael Waltrip (twice) and whoever won today) sometimes hit the jackpot. The Wood brothers aren't even a full time team anymore.

Sorry Bubba, I just now noticed this was your day thread I should have left it in the lounge, I'll have to get someone else to move it back.

No sweat. I usually don't do Sports in a Day Thread unless it's something like the 500 or the Super Bowl.

Actually, i hadn't noticed you had moved it. :D
