'I had an affair because I love America', claims presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich

    Call it patriotic adultery.

Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich has claimed that he had an affair with a colleague because his love of country made him work too hard.

The twice-divorced Republican politician was married to his second wife Ginther when he embarked on an affair in the mid-90s with blonde Castilla Bisek, who is 23-years his junior.

Gingrich was at the time an outspoken critic of President Bill Clinton who had a notorious affair with 22-year-old White House intern Monical Lewinsky.

Newt Gingrich the former House speaker talks to his wife at the Republican National Convention in Madison Square Garden, New York, Thursday 02 September 2004. U.S.

Gingrich and his second wife Marianne are seen in 1997. He cheated on Marianne with Callista, the current Mrs. Gingrich

But in an interview yesterday Gingrich - who recently converted to Catholicism - said he had sought God's forgiveness for mistakes in his past.

'There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate,' Gingrich told The Christian Broadcasting Network.

'What I can tell you is that when I did things that were wrong, I wasn't trapped in situation ethics, I was doing things that were wrong, and yet, I was doing them,' he said.

'I found that I felt compelled to seek God's forgiveness. Not God's understanding, but God's forgiveness.'

Gingrich served divorce papers on his first wife while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer.

The Republican hopeful went on in the interview to say that he and his now-third wife Callista have a great marriage.
    LOL! :D

Yes, he was lovin' America. One woman at a time. Eventually he would have gotten to as much of America as possible.

How many affairs will he have if he's president, or will he not work as hard?

That makes me want to go throw up. I don't think anyone in their right mind believes that crap. The sad part is that he does. I don't know whether it is staying in politics too long or having an Ivy League education but they have this gene that infiltrates their brain when they go to DC that they can explain away all of their shortcomings. Egotistical politicians like him, Romney, Obama, Clinton's , Nixon, etc are the reason why only around 50% of the electorate vote. They do not believe these liars.

Sometimes it takes a man a couple times to get it right. if he does. But these are not the reasons that i will not vote for him and would prefer than he just shut up. It is other stupid political things he's done. Scozzafava, pelosi, other stupid remarks and questionable postions that were less than conservative OR RIGHT, on certain issues. Naturally, if you want to look close, cheating on one's spouse does not instill any trust for him as an elected official. Cheating used to tell people something about a person. Well. not a liberal, they can do whatever and worse.

Sounds like Newt is trying to gain some street cred with the libs and progressives.

Sucks up to Pelosi on AGW, screws around on his sick wife, backing Scuzziwhatshername, what more could they want.

Thats all ok. Hannity will literally have him on literally 10 to 20 times over the next few months literally telling him and literally everone else how literally great of an American Gingrich literally is.:p
